This Video is shot more as a Katana making documentary then a normal episode from us. During the making of the Tanjiros Katana Ilya give quite a few talks about how anime relates to the art of Japanese sword making and how it effected the western culture as far back as the Renaissance and continues to do so today. In Demon Slayer this Nichirin Blade has a blackened color to it after Tanjiro wields it. So, after a hand stone polish the katana was then darkened using acid and the hamon was then finger stoned back into place. The Katana was forged from Tamahagane and made as close to tradition as possible. In this video we show every last piece of the sword being made even the Saya and the pieces that go with it. На каждом этапе ковки (варе), мы получаем определённое количество слоёв от 32 до 1 000 000, при этом на каждом варе мы убираем по одной пластине. В последующем эти пластины мы будем использовать для изготовления ножей.
В итоге мы имеем 7 ножей с различным содержанием слоёв. В чём между ними разница? Какой нож лучше? Зависит ли качество стали от количества слоёв?

Japanese sword-making is a tradition that goes back centuries, and one that’s carried on to this day. Each sword takes dedication, skill and can take over 18 months to create. The resulting blades can be worth thousands of dollars. So what makes them so expensive?

Becoming a swordsmith in Japan takes a 5-year apprenticeship, and there are only around 180 working smiths today. Master Akihira has been making these swords for 21 years at his studio just outside of Tokyo, Japan.

Japanese swords have always been more than just weapons, they were artworks, status symbols, and throughout history had a huge spiritual importance. 

Each sword is a unique artwork and one that is made to be admired as you would a painting. As sheets of steel are folded into each other again and again wood grain-like patterns form, and these patterns coupled with the skill of the swordmaster create a completely unique blade. 

Knowing what to look for in each sword is important, characteristics like the angle of the blade and the way the metal is folded could give away the era in which it was made, and even who made it. Every small detail is treated as equally important. 

Looking at the months of work that go into creating each blade, its easy to see why these swords command such a high price. And as there are less and less sword masters across Japan, these works of art are only going to become more valuable.

Because of the highly advanced techniques and numerous years of dedicated effort required in crafting Japanese swords, the skill has always been a closely kept and jealously guarded secret.
Yohindo Yoshihara is a consummate Japanese swordsmith and a very high regarded Mukansa craftman in Japan. He is also the best-known Japanes swordsmith outside of Japan.
His masterpieces have been purchased for exhibit by the Metropolitan Museum of art in New York City and the Museum of fine Arts in Boston. He has numerous fans worldwide, including His Royal highness, king Gustav of Sweden.
This video has been produced to appeal to all aficionados of Japanese sword around the world and is a treasure trove of sercrets to Yohindo Yoshiharas truly outstanding Japanese sword craftsmanship.

Это традиционное мероприятие, которое проводится уже больше 700 лет. Во время этого праздника сжигается трава кая на склонах, чтобы могли вырасти новые поросли. Добраться до вершины на кресельном подъемнике можно за 5 минут. Такое путешествие обойдётся в 700 йен с человека. Вокруг кратера проложены пешеходные тропинки, с которых открываются потрясающие пейзажи.
